The Perfect WINTER Camping Toilet Kit

Mass camping is over - for 2007 at least - especially in the U.S.  But what about hunters during the fall hunting season?  What about fishers?  What about those who ignore the seasons and insist on communing with wilderness regardless of the weather?  What about those who HAVE to work in the boondocks - all year around?  What about those who can only go camping in the fall or winter?  And what about the cross country skiers who are now preparing for their beloved sport?

For a thousand and one reasons there are people who use wilderness and backcountry - ALL YEAR AROUND.  And, as you will continue to read on this blog, everyone still has to poop - whether its a warm sunny day or its raining or they’re in the middle of a snow storm.  If you pack our ultralight Packit Toilet kit - your camping experience - regardless of the weather - will be significantly improved.  Guaranteed.

We’re learning that as more and more people use wilderness, more and more people are coming to terms with the reality that they’re going to have to take responsibility for their own poop.  It’s just a complete bummer to come upon a pile of poop and toilet paper strewn about when you're seeking solice and tranquility.  Wilderness users are coming to terms with the fact they can’t just leave it lying on the ground.  They’re finally realizing that THEIR poop is potentially dangerous (as well as disgusting) to their fellow human wilderness users, but especially to the wild things that inhabit these places - for even the micro life beneath the surface of the ground - which works to sustain wilderness - can be negatively affected by this form of human negligence.

When It Rains, Camping Can Get Really Ugly

If you’ve ever been camping - summer or winter - and suddenly it begins to rain - you know that the experience can get really ugly.  It can get cold quickly.  We can get wet and cold at the same time.  Miserable.  "What am I DOING here?"  It can make the simplest task a real burden.  It can make pooping - especially when you really have to go - a virtual nightmare.  But with a Packit Toilet kit, you don’t have to worry about where to go or what to do with your poop if it happens to be raining or snowing.  Simply set up the toilet in your tent, go, then tie a knot in the greenbag when you're done, and when the rain stops, bury your poop without getting soaked (always at least 200 feet from water sources).  No odors.  No messes.  No accidents.  No hassle.

Fortunately, the range of camping toilets on the market has been increasing in recent years - foldable options can be particularly good for use in the great outdoors.
